1992-1997 Cadillac Seville SLS STS LED High Mounted Third Brake Light Removal

Cut the viii lower fasteners holding the rear compartment lid carpet trim (near license plate area). We will provide yous with new fasteners.

1. Remove the 5 nuts (11mm or 7/16) securing the taillight.
2. Disconnect electrical connector (blueish and black wires).
3. IMPORTANT: While the deck chapeau is open up and the hat cover is pulled down, look toward the inside corners of the deck lid (same area as nuts) and you should be able to see the white 'christmas tree' clips. You lot will need to cut these clips off using snippers/wire cutters (Stanley 74-438 works great; a blade from a hacksaw also works well). Effort to cut equally much of the clip off as possible. Once the clips are cut yous should be able to remove the taillight. *See important message and pic below.
4. Do non reuse white 'christmas tree' clips. Practise non over tighten basics. Only snug the nuts to fit the brake light to the deck lid.
   

*IMPORTANT: Cleaved STUDS ARE OK. BROKEN Terminate TIPS ARE NOT. DO Not PRY ON THE Brake LIGHT TO REMOVE. THIS Tin Event IN A BROKEN END TIP. BROKEN End TIPS CANNOT BE REPAIRED AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR Core CREDIT. Meet PICTURE BELOW.

Don't do this. Pry damaged 1992-1997 brake calorie-free with broken end tip. Besides shown is the white plastic clip that must exist cut.©

1998-2004 Cadillac Seville, STS LED High Mounted Third Brake Light Removal

Open the rear compartment chapeau.

1. Remove the rear compartment hat trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear .
2. Remove the backup lamp. Refer to Backup Lamp Replacement .
3. Disconnect the high mounted stoplamp connector (5) from the wiring harness. Press the grommet (4) from the rear compartment chapeau.
4. Remove the bolts (two) retaining the high mounted stoplamp panel (ane) to the rear compartment lid (3).
5. Pull the high mounted stoplamp console (one) downward to disengage information technology from the rear compartment chapeau (3).
6. Remove the high mounted stoplamp console (1) and place information technology face down on a clean protective surface.
7. Remove the bolts (one) retaining the loftier mounted stoplamp (two) to the filler panel (three).
8. Install the bolts (ane) to retain the high mounted stoplamp (ii) to the filler panel (3). Tighten the high mounted stoplamp mounting bolts to 2 N·m (xviii lb in).
9. Audit the rear compartment hat (2) to ensure that the upper retainers (1) and the lower retainers (iii) are nowadays. If the retainers are damaged they should be replaced.
10. Position the high mounted stoplamp panel (1) to allow the high mounted stoplamp connector (5) and the grommet (4) to pass through the rear compartment lid (three). Ensure that the grommet (4) is fully seated in the rear compartment chapeau (3). Connect the high mounted stoplamp connector (five) with the wiring harness.
11. Position the high mounted stoplamp panel (ane) on the rear compartment hat (3) and press it upwards to engage the locator tabs.
12. Install the bolts (two) to retain the high mounted stoplamp panel (i) to the rear compartment lid (three). Tighten the high mounted stoplamp panel retaining bolts to 2 Northward·1000 (xviii lb in).
13. Install the backup lamp. Refer to Backup Lamp Replacement .
14. Install the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Hat Trim Replacement - Rear .
15. Shut the rear compartment lid.

16. Please note: All 1998- mid 2001 Seville lamps leak h2o. 100% failure. The electric current simply repair/ fix is to replace the lamp with a mid 2001 or newer replacement. The current replacement GM function is #25697411.

Cadillac CTS 'neon' high mounted 3rd brake light

CTS service bulletin: To properly mount the CTS brake calorie-free, the lamp requires mounting commodities, metallic washer, and cream gasket. Do not overtighten this commodities. Doing and then will crusade cracking in the rear lamp associates.©

Installation Procedure

1. Install the high mountain finish lamp to the rear compartment chapeau applique.

   Discover

   Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct role number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not apply paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener articulation surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping forcefulness and may impairment the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in gild to avert damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the fasteners in order to secure the high mounted stop lamp to the rear compartment lid applique. Tighten

   Tighten the high mounted stop lamp fasteners to vi N·m (53 lb in).

3. Connect the high mountain end lamp electrical connector.
4. Install the rear compartment lid applique to the rear compartment lid. Refer to Compartment Lid Applique Replacement - Rear in Torso Rear Cease.
5. Close the rear compartment.

Special note Escalade ESV and Escalade EXT owners!

Attending Escalade EXT and SUV owners! From a short distance the EXT 3rd lamp resembles the SUV third brake lamp version. In fact, they are two completly different lamps. The EXT lamp is made by a dissimilar supplier, has a different vehicle mounting blueprint, and has different internal electronics.

The Escalade EXT and Escalade SUV lamps are non interchangable.

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the lift gate window.
   
2. Remove the retainers (iii screws, near window hinge surface area) from the stop lamp.
3. Lower the lift gate window.
   
4. Raise the stop lamp to disconnect the electrical connector from the lamp.
5. Remove the center high-mounted stop lamp from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Connect the electrical harness to the cease lamp.
2. Install the centre high-mounted terminate lamp onto the vehicle.
3. Raise the lift gate window.

   Notice

   Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct role number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do non use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and articulation clamping forcefulness and may harm the fastener. Employ the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in guild to avoid damage to parts and systems.
   

4. Install the retainers into the holes. Tighten

   ***Tighten the retainers to 1.2 N·m (ten lb in).***

• Close the elevator gate window.
• Warning! Do non overtighten screws. Overtighting screws tin can crack the rear restriction lite housing. This will create h2o leaks. There is no warranty coverage for overtightened screws.

Annotation: The Escalade SUV version third brake light has 3 locating pins on the
bottom of the lamp. The locating pin(s) are inserted into the raised console
boss as shown. Eye pivot shown. ©

The lower bevel edge of the third brake light goes within the painted panel pocket.

Removal Procedure

1. Ensure the headlamp switch is in the OFF position.
2. Remove the rear compartment embrace assembly.
3. Remove the cargo box span heart bar. Refer to Panel Replacement - Cargo Box Bridge Centre in Outside Trim.
   
4. Remove the terminate lamp retaining screws.
   
5. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
   
   
6. Remove the stop lamp from the cargo box bridge center bar.

Installation Process

1. Install the stop lamp to the cargo box span center bar.

   Connect the electric connector (1).

   
   
2. Install the cargo box span center bar. Refer to Panel Replacement - Cargo Box Bridge Center in Exterior Trim.
3. Inspect the functioning.
4. Install the rear compartment cover assembly.

Gently pry to remove the soft, flexible plastic gutter trim.

Remove (2) T15 size Torx screws, gently wiggle straight back to remove tail light. Disconnect harness clip servant and bulb socket from the tail light. Nosotros practise non need the wire harness for lamp repairs.

Caution: Some gentle prying may be required to remove the lamp, but practise non pry on the corners to remove. Note metal guide pin in picture. Driver side shown. ©

just plugs into the trailer hitch wiring plug and is ready to use.

Kit does require a cheap 'seven blade to four flat' adapter.

Very common towing adapter. Available at U-Haul ®, Accelerate Auto Parts ®

and True Value Hardware ® stores etc.  Example: Hopkins ® #47355 adapter shown.
